Foreword

Triad Tennis Photo Library

The Triad High School tennis program dates back to the 1970-71 school year, with the boys’ team playing its first season that spring. The girls’ team got its start a couple of years later in the fall of 1973. Here we have a nearly complete set of Triad High School tennis records. On the right side of the screen, there are links to various lists, including team win/loss records and championships, as well as individual win totals and accomplishments. If you're having trouble seeing the links on a mobile device, try clicking "view web version". Girls' records are all under May 2017, and boys' records are all under June 2017.

While we were able to put together a complete list of things like IHSA state qualifiers, all-state performers, and MVC singles champions, we only had access to match scorecards dating back to the spring of 1998, meaning that individual wins for players before this time could not be calculated. We have gotten input from Triad tennis coaches from every decade, and the consensus is that the only players prior to 1998 who would appear on some of the individual wins lists are all on the girls’ side.

The most significant of these players are Kathy and Lisa Schuito, who were both four-time IHSA state qualifiers in the late 70’s and early 80’s. Other standout Triad tennis players before 1998 include Kathy and Lisa’s sister, Patty Schuito, Lisa Linenfelser, who went to state in doubles with Patty, as well as Ann Colter and Anke Fischaleck, a German exchange student who won the MVC singles title and qualified for state in her one season at Triad.

Due to the IHSA expanding the tennis calendar several times over the past few decades, even if we had access to the old scorecards, it is very unlikely that even Kathy and Lisa Schuito would be at the very top of any of the wins categories, although they would definitely be found somewhere on several of these lists.
